Abigail’s Approach to Therapy

Abigail approaches therapy through a family systemic and relational model to facilitate individual and relational growth among people of all ages.

About Abigail Van Dyke

Abigail is a marriage and family therapist who is passionate about serving kids, teens, families and couples. She received her MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Wheaton College and has advanced training in play therapy from the University of Central Missouri. Abigail provides psychotherapy services for individuals, families, and couples of all ages. She aims to create a safe and warm therapeutic space that supports growth and positive change.

Across all ages, Abigail’s areas of focus and expertise include anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and relational distress. She is certified in Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling and is trained as a family therapist, both of which enhance her work with couples and families. She aims to identify and build upon existing strengths and support individuals and families towards growing stronger, more fulfilling connections.

When working with children, Abigail leans into developmentally-appropriate play therapy approaches in order to facilitate growth. Abigail’s main areas of focus when working with children include Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Adlerian play therapy, and art and sandtray techniques.

In her spare time, Abigail enjoys running, spending time with family, playing board games, and trying new local coffee shops.
